Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) scientists created history after the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the surface of the Moon on 23rd August 2023. Chandrayaan-3 is the third lunar exploration mission under ISRO’s Chandrayaan program.

The Vikram lander made a soft-landing over the lunar surface at 6.04 PM (IST) and made India the fourth country in history to soft-land on the moon after the United States, the Soviet Union, and China.

Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the ISRO team through video conferencing after witnessing the successful landing. The Prime Minister is currently in Johannesburg, South Africa attending the BRICS summit. He congratulated team Chandrayaan, team ISRO, and all the other scientists of the country who worked tirelessly for years for Chandrayaan-3.

The Prime Minister emphasized setting high standards for the future and said that ISRO would shortly launch the "Aditya L-1" mission to conduct an investigation of the Sun. He also mentioned that planet Venus is one of ISROs objectives.
