Aditya Kumar Ghosh was born in 1924 in Karimpur, Nadia district. His father, Jiban Chandra Ghosh and the Chhatra Sangam Committee inspired his patriotism from a young age. Deeply influenced by Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals, he joined India’s freedom struggle.
Aditya Kumar participated in the Quit India Movement launched on 8 August 1942 by Mahatma Gandhi. Actively participating in the movement, he engaged in subversive activities, including setting fire to Beldanga railway station in Murshidabad district. His actions led to his arrest and on 19 August 1942, the Baharampur (Berhampore) sub-district magistrate sentenced him to rigorous imprisonment for nine months and eight days.
Despite his imprisonment, Aditya Kumar’s spirit remained unbroken. Upon his release on 25 May 1943, he rejoined the national movement, continuing his fight against British colonial rule. His relentless efforts reflected the determination of countless revolutionaries who sacrificed personal comfort for national freedom.
Aditya Kumar’s life was deeply intertwined with India’s struggle for independence. His contributions during the Quit India Movement and later his public service exemplify his unwavering commitment to justice and national freedom. Through his courage and dedication, he became a beacon of inspiration, embodying the resilience and sacrifice that ultimately led to India’s independence.
